A Successful Day at Windsor Marks Two More Winners

We were delighted to celebrate another double last week, as fighting form continued with our two-year-olds at Windsor on Monday (15th July).

Our first success came with The Dragon King, who’s winning streak continued on his Handicap debut, after winning his maiden at Doncaster. Despite a Nursery it held plenty of form, but this colt has a tremendous attitude to his racing, and his two-year-old efforts so far have been most pleasing – we have been thrilled to see him grow from the education and experience each race has brought. Sat prominently off the leader, Rossa Ryan had him well positioned to make his move as they approached two from home, before battling on through closing stages in pursuit of the line. Pulling away nicely once shaken up, he found an extra gear and disputed the lead to pass the post by a neck. This was a commendable run from him, especially with the step up in class, and we are delighted for his owners at Middleham Park Racing. There are some smart opportunities we are considering as his purchase price and median price of his sire, Invincible Army, is quite low. Stepping him up to six furlongs is also very exciting.

Next up was Aparajeo, who made an exciting entrance with his career debut and half a length lead in the Novice Stakes over six furlongs. We’ve taken our time to get him to the track, but he certainly showcased himself as strong newcomer on this first outing. Breaking clean away from the stalls and quick to find his stride, Rossa Ryan held him well on the rails behind front runners before stealing the lead. Despite hanging slightly towards closing stages, his pace was undisputed when under pressure and he held off rivals to stay on powerfully towards the line. This was a really pleasing effort from him, and one we can build on as we consider our next steps. As always, great to have a winner for his owner, Sheikh Sultan from AlMohamediya Racing.
