A Winning Double for Cheveley Park Stud

On Saturday 24th September – back at Haydock - the Cheveley Park Stud owned filly, Conservationist, finished with her head in front over the 1m distance in the Fillies Novice Stakes. Showcasing winning potential after finishing second in her debut last month at Newmarket, it was great to see this juvenile stay on well amongst a slightly bigger field and win comfortably on only her second outing. Breaking well with John Fahy onboard, Conservationist took up an early front running position and held a narrow lead on the rails. With a quarter of a mile to go, John nudged her along which saw her lengthen her lead to pull away from the other runners to cross the line with ease, two and a half lengths clear. It was a very pleasing run, and this is a very capable filly. We look forward to exploring opportunities further as she continues to progress.

The winning streak for Cheveley Park Stud continued that day as the three-year-old filly, Cave Diver, brought home a triumphant result in the Boulton Group Season Finale Fillies Handicap at Chester. Breaking smartly to start the 1m2f distance, with Pierre-Louis Jamin in the saddle, the filly ran behind the front runner with a strong and consistent pace. As they approached the swing for home, the filly was gaining momentum all the time and was pushed along to quicken nicely to take to lead and run clear inside the final furlong. It was great to see her handle this race so well and finish strongly, with plenty of authority, to fend off her competition when asked to challenge. She has such a pleasing attitude and can hopefully manage another step forwards on her favoured soft going.

Overall, a very pleasing double from two talented fillies for owning connections.
