Addison Grey Scores on Debut

It was great to be back in the winner’s enclosure on Thursday (7th November), as Addison Grey made an attractive career debut on the all-weather at Southwell.

Holding claim on paper being by Havanna Grey and out of a dam that performed well on the all-weather, we were delighted to see this colt run so gamely first time out, over six furlongs in the Maiden Stakes, with Rossa Ryan on board (in red hot form after his Breeders Cup success) nurturing his introduction. Breaking well, he sat mid-division where he was given a strong lead from front runners. After going a fair pace, the field levelled out on the turn from home where we saw him find another gear, competitively asserting himself whilst putting a comfortable three lengths between him and his opponents, before crossing the line without breaking a sweat.

This was a very rewarding first effort from him, where he has shown nice ability and cemented himself as a hopeful newcomer. His training behind the scenes and next performance will come on in leaps and bounds from this experience. A very well done to connections from Opulence Thoroughbreds and the supporting cast who travelled to Southwell.
