Cracking Gold’s Winning Victory at Southwell

We welcomed another success on Wednesday evening (19th March), as the team travelled to Southwell with Paul and Clare Rooney’s four-year-old, Cracking Gold. Celebrating his third triumph on the all-weather, he continues to prove himself as a very promising individual with this noteworthy performance that marks his first handicap success.

Racing over the mile, he was keen early on but always travelling well and Rossa Ryan did an excellent job of conserving his energy sat readily in third place, with plenty left in the tank for the pair to make their move with the final two from home. Staying on well, he stepped up to challenge and crossed the line comfortably with two lengths in hand.

Cracking Gold has always presented himself as a capable contender and built up a very credible form since debut last year. He has come back from his recent wind operation very well and this success sets a promising start for the season ahead. We look forwards to seeing more from him on the all-weather hopefully on finals day, and he holds more promise back on the turf with plenty of opportunities in good races available.
