After finishing second in his last run just 10 days ago, where he was beaten by only a neck in the Listed race at Lingfield, Diligent Harry was back with a bang as the five-year-old crossed the line in front in the six-furlong feature race at Newcastle on Tuesday (14th February).
Despite carrying top weight with jockey on board Kieran Shoemark, he was well fancied as the 7/4F, and once again showcased power and an unwavering attitude since being gelded. Breaking well in a field of eight runners, he was in touch with early leaders from his position in fourth before making his move with two furlongs from home. Seizing the advantage, he quickened to lead in the closing stages and finished comfortably with half a length clear of King of Bavaria.
Diligent Harry now boasts his fourth win from seven starts on the all-weather surface which places him in strong contention for the AW Sprint Championships in April. This would be a tremendous success for the horse, having already landed the All-Weather Three-Year-Old Championships back in 2021. We’re really pleased with how he is strengthening after his last outings and a great performance to celebrate for his owning connections, The Dilinquents.
