The Beechdown team celebrated a fantastic result yesterday (1st May), as Jasour was back to his winning ways with a very stylish success in the Group 3 Commonwealth Cup Trial Stakes at Ascot. Under the confidence-boosting ride of Jim Crowley, we are thrilled that hard work and patience with this colt has rewarded his owner, Sheikh Sultan of Al Mohamediya Racing, with this very commendable run.
Having started out as a precocious juvenile sprinter last year, he was very quick to establish noteworthy form after his winning performance (once again, with Jim in the saddle) in the Group 2 July Stakes at Newmarket. But this was followed by a couple of setbacks, which signalled he might have lost some confidence in his racing – being so new to the game – and a sufficient winter break beckoned before settling him back into his training at the start of the year. With this season’s gameplan now forming, he has returned stronger physically and mentally with maturity on his side; proving his time off to be fruitful, as he made outstanding headway from a backmarker position to steal the lead and pass the post with an easy 1¾ lengths in hand. Following this promising season debut, we are full of optimism with our sights set on the Sandy Lane and Commonwealth Cup as firm targets.
