On Sunday 1st May, two-year-old Katey Kontent finished in front with her debut winning performance at Salisbury over 5f, in the Fillies Conditions Stakes. Breaking well with Liam Keniry on board in a field of nine runners, the filly ran greenly in early stages and was held in behind leaders but was ridden strongly on the outside to challenge and ran on gamely, hitting the front with a cosy three-quarter-length lead.
Although showing signs of inexperience throughout the race she has a speedy pedigree and we were thrilled to see how she proved this, as she quickened in her performance first time out. A positive result for owners Steven Barrow and Simon Hope, particularly to finish in front of a strong looking group of two-year-olds. She’s a very exciting filly and will come on nicely from this race; we look forward to what more she can do as we move forwards with her education.
Elsewhere that weekend, Harry Three finished in the frame at Newmarket on Saturday 30th April. Although no match for the winner, Harry Three ran a very strong race over the 6-furlong distance to finish strongly in second place.
Under the steer of Johnny Fahy, in the Betfair Weighed-In Podcast Handicap, Harry Three put in a determined effort having tracked the leaders on the far side, making headway and securing his position in the final 100yds. A noteworthy run from him early in the season and we look forward to him impressing further with more to come.
