It was third time lucky for Magic Mild as she secured a smart winning performance at Newmarket on the opening day of the July festival last week, with an impressive start-to-finish lead over six furlongs in the 2yo Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.
Breaking swiftly with Rossa Ryan on board, the pair were quick to establish good pace and took up the lead early on. With two previous runs already under her belt, it’s clear she has come on well from those experiences and this run was an excellent showcase of the potential she holds. After sustaining her front running position and putting an easy length and a half between her and the field, it was great to see her respond competitively when pressure from rivals began to mount. She is a promising filly, who ran a nice third on debut over the Rowley Mile, but this was a great comeback after her last entry. Between her strong work at home and this pleasing result, we will see how she comes out of this race but will likely consider suitable Stakes entries as we look ahead to her next performance. A very nice two-year-old showcase for the team and an exciting outcome for her owning connections at Jayar Investments.
