After a couple of runs already under her belt this season, it was great to see two-year-old Miss Show Down secure her winning debut, as she stepped up in class in the Nursery Handicap at Bath on Saturday (14th September).
After slightly missing the break, John Fahy did well to recover her and, despite running as a back marker, kept her moving forwards with a steady momentum. As they approached halfway, she still had plenty of race still in front of her but previous experience prevailed and she stormed for home on the stand side to conquer the field and win by a nose.
This was a very impressive finish from her; with a firm understanding for her job on the day and a strong showcase of speed which was very pleasing to see. The drop back to five furlongs seems to have suited here and she will continue to improve from this performance. Another nice result for Simon and Peter Taplin and Susan Bunney, who have celebrated some exciting successes with their fillies this season.
