Getting off the mark with his first victory at Kempton, we were delighted to see Nemov in the winner’s enclosure on Wednesday evening (28th August), after a powerful finish and neat length in hand.
Returning to the all-weather for the first time since his career debut earlier this year – where he was narrowly beaten and finished in an admirable second place – Nemov has posted some good efforts so far this season, but he really put that experience to good use and things came together perfectly with this confident performance. From a wide draw he found himself positioned as the back marker until closing stages but was always travelling beautifully on the bridle; so, when a patient Rossa Ryan asked for more, he cut through the field with a clear run from last to first position in an eye-catching finish. The track conditions suited him perfectly and dropping him back to six furlongs seems to have gone in his favour on this occasion. A very impressive result from this strong and progressive three-year-old, who we hope to see more of, and a terrific outcome for his owners and breeders at Cheveley Park Stud.
