Thursday evening (25th July) marked the return of the Racing League, where the team-based action kicked off with the opening fixture at Yarmouth and we were delighted to see Pedro Valentino get us off the mark with a smart win for Wales and the West.
With Saffie Osbourne in the saddle - who has brought us much success in previous years over this competition - the pair broke well and were quick to find pace to lead the field. Holding on to a narrow advantage, closing stages saw the three-year-old go head-to-head with his rival, but Saffie gave him a very determined ride which saw him stick his neck out to the line. Having produced some solid efforts throughout his handicap performances this year, inclusive of a previous win and two frame finishes, his form is on an upward trajectory, and we are really pleased to see his willingness and winning attitude, with the benefit of adding cheekpieces, begin to yield some strong results. He is improving all the time and presents himself as an exciting prospect to be moving forwards with.
