Three-year-old filly Rum Cocktail ran a very pleasing race at Goodwood on 17th June, finishing with her head in front in the Heycar Handicap over the five-furlong distance. A great ride was given by John Fahy on board, who broke well from stall two (amid the small field of just five runners) and sat keenly a couple of lengths behind front runners. The pace was strong, but the filly travelled well, and we were delighted to see her quicken in style when asked to challenge with two furlongs from home. Making headway in closing stages, she went on to win nicely with a narrow half a length lead.
Ridden in the purple and pale blue silks of Mr J Smith, this is the filly’s fifth start, so we were thrilled to see her win for the second time and look forward to her improving further from this.
