Saturday’s Round-Up as Successful Form Continues

It was a great day of racing on Saturday (27th July) as the team led up another double across fixtures at Salisbury and Lingfield.

First to come home in front, was first time out three-year-old gelding Study Up who ran in the Novice Stakes across six furlongs. It’s been a patient journey getting him onto the track, but with all the progress he has been making at home it was very pleasing to see his training come into fruition with this confident debut. Away from the break he was held up at the rear, but running amid a smaller field Ross Coakley kept him moving forwards, quietly gathering momentum sat off those who set about an early pace. Approaching two from home, they made strides cutting through the pack and finishing strongly took the lead over the line with a comfortable length and three quarters in hand. Like many on their first outing, he showed signs of greenness but a clear indication of pace so he will come on from this. A brilliant first performance and great result for owning connections at Atlantic Equine.

Next up across at Lingfield was the well-fancied three-year-old, Miss Stormy Night, who finished strongly once again to now complete a hattrick of successes in as many starts. Defying the added 10lbs and an awkward break from the stalls, John Fahy is well acquainted with the filly and did well to settle her towards the rear where she gained a bit of cover. Quickening pace with two from home, the pair sat handily on the wide outside with plenty of room to gallop and she really stepped up to challenge when Johnny asked. She is a well-bred filly who has fast improved, and her last performance saw her win impressively from last to first position, so to execute this same strategy in a spectacular winning fashion again is fantastic to see. Her work at home is going from strength to strength and its really pleasing to see this play out on the track. Another exciting result for her owners, Simon and Peter Taplin and Susan Bunney, and a very well done to the team at home as winning form continues.
