The team celebrated a tremendous win on Friday (29th September) as our five-year-old filly Tregony stole success in style in the Listed Stakes over 1m4f at Newmarket.
Finishing with a winning distance of a head, after taking on the challenge of a competitive colt, she showcased stamina and determination and ran on gamely under another great ride from Saffie Osbourne. This effective combination of horse and jockey have achieved multiple successes before this race, including a nice placing in a Listed race last time out at York, so we were delighted to see this performance unfold as another definition of their strength together in an impressive success at this all-important level.
Breaking well, Tregony was poised, had a lovely rhythm, was quick to take-up the lead and establish pace as one of the two fillies in the race. Striding out in front comfortably, it was a thrill to see her quicken for home and fend off the Goldolphin owned colt with pure class. This race now concludes the filly’s career as we are delighted to retire her on such a high. She has been a wonderful horse to train, and we are delighted for the results this homebred has achieved for her owners and breeders, Stephen Barrow and Simon Hope.
