Three-year-old gelding Wowzers gave the Beechdown team and his owner and breeder, Andrew Cohen, a very pleasing result after finishing in front at Salisbury in the 6f Archie Ford 18th Birthday Celebration Handicap on Thursday (29th September). Breaking well and settling to find a position towards the rear of the field, the home straight saw him begin to make headway when John Fahy asked him to quicken. Running into a bit of trouble with 2f to go, John switched him out wide to find a clear run up the stand side, where we watched him regain momentum with an impressive turn of foot and chase down leaders to close the gap with significant pace. We were delighted to see him run on so strongly and claim such a great result, marking his first win of this season.
